Although at first glance this image is pretty basic, I have to applaud the artist for the subtle manipulation of this photo.
The sculpture itself is a lovely subject, and that was what initially drew me in. However, the slight edit made by the artist is worthy of a double take. And that's exactly what I did when I noticed this. The stone figure appears to be jumping (my first thought was a diving board) or floating, and the fact that the entire background is sky only adds to that sense of freedom. The slight addition of yellow warms the entire image, although it does not take away from the overall tone. The angle and positioning are perfect in this shot showing great technical ability on the photographer's part.
This was a very clever idea, and I'm definietly impressed. This image serves as a perfect example of how an amazingly simple edit can have such great results.
